REX Color and Caption Codes

The idea of the REX Color and Caption Codes is to quickly communicate the features of the user interface components in REX.

Grid Colors

REX has three different formats of grids with three different colors respectively.
  • Orange: Orange grids are independent grids and they are used to insert or show the main information within a node window. For example, the Compounds grid from Chemistry->Compounds node, Reactions grid in Chemistry->Reactions and so on. Grids that have with an {i} symbol in the title, such as the Chemistry->Notes grid are optional grids meant for documentation only.

  • Blue: Blue grids are dependent grids. A Blue grid always depends on a Orange grid. Blue grids are used to insert or show information for a particular row selected in a main (Orange) grid. The Stochiometry grid from Chemistry->Reactions node is an example of a blue grid.

  • Gray: Gray grids are meant for documentation purposes only. Entering information in these grids is Optional, and this information does not affect the solution of the reactor modeling project. These grids have an symbol on its tab.

Font Colors

REX has two main font colors.
  • Black: Black font is used for inserting or showing information which you may modify.
  • Blue: Blue font is used for showing Read-Only information.
Red font is used when REX detects inconsistent values. For example, when the lower bound entered is higher than the upper bound or the value is not between the bounds.

Green font is used when a variable has its value at the lower or upper bound.

Caption Signs

Some additional conventions are:
  • {i}: This symbol at the beginning of the grid title indicates that entering information here is Optional. The information entered in this grid does not have any effect on the solution of the reactor modeling project.
  • »: This symbol at the end of the node name indicates special Actions can be executed with right-click on the Popup Menu.
  • ¬: This symbol indicates an Action that can be executed in one of the node tabs.
